The Nursing in General Practice Program facilities Practice Nursing (PN) initiative is aimed at coordinating and funding training opportunities for PNs across WA and assisting in the development and maintenance of PN programs for Divisions with limited PN support.
In summary, the Nursing in General Practice team works towards:
- Providing training and education program for Divisional staff and PNs at both regional and metropolitan venues using local educators and trainers;
- Investigating various models to increase PN uptake based upon the individual needs of the Divisions;
- Providing access to information and resources on the following areas:
- Assistance to practices with recruitment of PNs
- Mentoring and support
- Partnerships and collaboration
- Teamwork and integration
- Promotion of PNs roles
- Professional standards
- Education and training
- Disseminating and sharing information between Divisions, government and other organisations.
