The World Health Organisation defines ehealth as ‘the use, in the health sector, of digital data - transmitted, stored and retrieved electronically - in support of health care, both at the local site and at a distance.’ - www.who.int/eht/eHealthHCD/en/

In recent years, ehealth systems have demonstrated that they can significantly improve the quality and safety of healthcare, improving efficiency and health outcomes for patients.

The Australian Government funds WA General Practice Network to support WA Divisions of General Practice in fostering the development and employment of ehealth in general practices, and to collaborate with other ehealth stakeholders to facilitate this process.
