Vision, Mission and Values
Our Vision
A cohesive, high performing WA GP Network, leading the development of primary health care across Western Australia.
Our Values guide the way in which we work together – internally and externally – for the great benefit of WAGPN, the Network, and the health and well being of the people of Western Australia.
The WAGPN will be known for its:
Accountability
We take responsibility for our decisions and actions even when the decisions are difficult or the outcomes are not as expected or favourable. We think through issues carefully and can demonstrate the reasoning behind decisions. We take actions that are reasonable and defensible. We have clear systems and processes in place to ensure appropriate discharge of funding and delivery of services. Our behavior is guided by sound principles and standards and we respond constructively to feedback.
Excellence
We are committed to continuous improvement and endeavor to do our best in all situations. We know the value of challenges and welcome opportunities to expand our skills and knowledge. We provide the highest standards of program support, training and education to WA Division to WA Divisions and our staff. We are responsible for demonstrating that we are a high-performing organisation and strive to achieve all of our objectives and meet or exceed our contract deliverables.
Integrity
We are open and honest in all our dealings. We speak truthfully and keep our word. We fulfill our commitments and contracts. We can be relied upon to be fair and objective, weighing up the different sides of an issue before making a decision. We are willing to share information and put aside personal interests and represent faithfully the interests of the organisations we represent. We consult and take account of feedback in decision making. We do not shy away from making difficult decisions or delivering bad news. Our processes and actions are transparent and open to review.
Innovation
We welcome new ideas and encourage ‘thinking outside the square’. We promote a culture of questioning and about how things are done. We recognise and respond to opportunities and support others to do the same. We look at what others are doing to address the issues we face and are open to learning from other industries and disciplines. We seek to develop new and original solutions, services and programs.
Respect
We recognize the value of diversity and appreciate differences. We listen and seek to understand different points of view. It is our responsibility to treat all with whom we come into contact with justice and compassion no matter what the circumstances. We are courteous to our clients and our colleagues and acknowledge the knowledge, skills and expertise they bring to the relationship. We are prepared to stand up for what we believe and challenge behaviour which is contrary to our Values. We are flexible in our approach and accommodate differences in our negotiations and contracts. We aim to provide equal opportunity for all.
Ethics
We strive to do the right thing. We are open and honourable in our dealings with everyone. We declare any conflicts of interest promptly and before they can influence our contributions. All members are treated equitably with no favoritism shown. We have strong governance systems and processes in place. We promote ethical practices in all areas of health care. We are aware of and act upon our moral responsibilities. Where there is dissention, all sides of the issue are recorded and acknowledged without bias or favour.
